This fall was the inaugural year for Life School Red Oak participation as a UIL member school. The high school volleyball and girls cross country team clinched the first-ever district championships, while the junior high volleyball and cross-country teams finished at the top of their respective district standings. With the addition of a junior varsity team this year, all three Red Oak football teams performed well in the Mustang second season of a strongly developing football program.

The 2008 Life School Red Oak JH Cross Country team has just wrapped up a very successful season.  Team members brought home medals throughout the season and topped it all off with both boys’ and girls’ district championships.  The district meet was held Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at Coolidge High School.  The JH girls brought home team medals as well as several individual medals.  Leading the way was Alexis Williams with first place, Victoria Gardiner with second place, and Virginia Adams with fourth place.  The boys brought home team medals and individual medals as well.  The frontrunners on the team were Justin Blubaugh with first place, Tommy Nguyen with third place, and Aaron Gonzalez with sixth place.  Coach Goldsmith and Coach Hirtzel have enjoyed working with these athletes and are proud of their success.

The 2008-2009 school year begins an exciting era in the Mustang athletic program. Life School Red Oak has joined the University Interscholastic League and will participate as varsity teams in cross country, volleyball, basketball, track and field, and golf. Students will have the opportunity to compete for district championships as well as vie for the state playoffs.
