When Life School Red Oak’s Shawn Foulks crossed the finish line at the UIL State Track Meet, he took the silver medal in the 100-meters, making him the school’s first-ever state medalist. He also caught the attention of several college scouts who were in attendance at the meet. One of those schools, McMurry University in Abilene was eager to have him visit the school.
In the span of under one week, Foulks made a visit to the campus, was offered and accepted both athletic and academic scholarships, joining legendary coach Barbara Crousen’s program, the 2012 NCAA Div. III champions.
The son of Paul and Shantell Foulks, Shawn has been active in the Mustang football and track programs and has excelled in UIL One Act Play competition, helping his cast appear at last year’s state OAP meet. Shawn plans to study multimedia and business.
The coach of the Life Red Oak track team is Lyle Linscomb.
