The SchoolMessenger system is used by school districts across Texas and the United States to provide a fast and efficient delivery system of this important information to our parents. According to Life School Executive Superintendent Brent Wilson, “Parent communication is extremely important to Life School. We are excited to implement this solution to help increase communication to our parents when school closings or emergencies occur.”

On Saturday, January 21st at 1:00 p.m., Life School will conduct a test of the new SchoolMessenger system. A test phone call and email will be sent to our parents. Also, a SMS text message will also be sent to parents giving them the opportunity to opt-in to the SMS text message service. To receive these messages, text the word “yes” to “68453.” Standard phone carrier rates may apply. Please note, if you do not opt-in to use this service, you will only receive email and phone messages from the SchoolMessenger system.

Since the contact information for this system is taken from our student information database, it is important for parents to keep their contact information updated with their campus office. If you do not receive the test messages, please update your contact information by completing the “Change of Address and Phone Number” form contained in the link below and return it to the school office or classroom teacher.

http://tinyurl.com/7rkyyq2

The SchoolMessenger communication system is yet another way Life School is continuing to increase and improve communication with our parents.

encouraging our scholars. Mr. Beavers has served 2 full days this week. Educators and our scholars loved having Mr. Beavers on campus and participating in all areas of the day.

He began his days with traffic duties, moved to reading with students, monitoring work, supporting classroom teachers during instruction, enjoyed recess, lunch, gym time and continued to finish out the
days with advising students, monitoring hallways and assisting with dismissal of students. Whew! What a full two days he put in and looked like a Pro! We are looking forward to two more WATCH
D.O.G.S. joining our ranks next week. Each dad volunteers a full day to assist educators, scholars, and office personnel; while also spending some valuable time with their own child during the day.

If you are not a WATCH D.O.G., please see Mrs. Wallis or Mr. Davis for more information on how you can get involved in this outstanding program. “He is not a good dad because he is a
WATCH DOG. He is a WATCH DOG because he is a good dad.”

Coach Kristen Nichols was very impressed with her team’s efforts. “They performed the best I have ever seen them. This competition is the highest level in the cheer world and they met or exceeded all the goals I set for them,” Nichols said.

The team from Hawaii took first place, and Nichols says the experience was well worth all the early morning practices. “They had a great time, and most cheerleaders aren’t able to say they performed at a national level. “

Team members include:
Captain Lauren Phillips, Ka’Jalen Pogue, India Session, Brianna Coats, Chestina Copeland, Danira Garcia, Elle Glatz, Keyarius Johnson, Tyjai King and Jessica Peoples.

The Christmas Shoppe is an opportunity for families (that meet certain income criteria) to come and shop for Christmas presents and receive one grocery bag for a Christmas day meal. The Shoppe provided food and toys for over 150 families, which consisted of over 400 children. Usually, it takes the organization 24 hours to set up and prepare. With the help of our student council we were able to complete all set up within 5 hours. The only other volunteers that were there was a group of elderly woman that loved spending time with our students, my favorite part was watching a few of our students pair up with an elderly woman to help make the grocery bags. It was a joy to see the interaction between the young and the old! I received several compliments on the character and charisma our students brought to the day.
