Life School parents and staff: Many of you are aware that Life School has designated October as “Volunteer Month.” As a reminder, we have partnered with Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit that helps create affordable housing and revitalize low-income neighborhoods in Dallas County, as a part of Life School’s ongoing commitment to give back to our community. Our campuses are currently in the middle of a supply donation drive which will benefit the local Veterans Resource Center. In addition to this project, I am excited to announce a second service project that will be taking place.
Approximately 150 Life School staff members (excluding teachers and others participating in staff development) are scheduled to volunteer on Monday, October 29. Participating staff will be divided into five different teams in order to serve at the Veterans Resource Center, several Habitat store locations, the Habitat warehouse and in at least one local Southern Dallas neighborhood where help is desperately needed. We will send more information as the event nears, including updates on our website, Facebook and Twitter. Additionally, we’re expecting a few of our staff volunteers to send photos and updates via Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #LSHH.
