Life School Lancaster third grade Social Studies classes completed their community leadership study with a visit from Lancaster Mayor Marcus Knight. In the mayor’s presentation to the students, he explained require-ments and procedures to join the mayoral race, how the mayor and city council members are chosen, and what their responsibilities include. Mayor Knight informed students that these elected officials do not receive compensation for their services. He emphasized the importance of leading with integrity and being good stewards of the city’s finances and resources. The mayor also discussed various departments within city government and services they provide. Students engaged in a question and answer time at the end of the presentation and joined Life School Lancaster Principal DeWayne Parker in thanking Mayor Knight for visiting the school.
