It’s been a tremendous privilege for me to be a part of the Life School Team since before our school’s charter was even made official and the first teacher was ever hired. Having worked with Dr. Wilson for over 20 years as the financial officer, I have been able to see firsthand all of the growth, challenges, and highlights Life School has experienced. As I take a moment to pause and reflect over the past fourteen years, it has truly been amazing to witness the impact that Life School has made on our communi-ties. Who would have imagined that when we opened the doors 15 years ago at the first campus with 266 students, Life School would grow to over 4,000 students attending this 2012 fall semester at one of our five locations? I certainly did not! We’ve come a long way.
In a recent report, based on the latest data from the Texas Education Agency, Life School was the sixth largest Texas charter school in 2010 and the report showed that Life School ranks 216 out of 1238 among all school and charter districts in the state based on enrollment numbers. In regards to enrollment, we rank in the top 20% of Texas schools. However, although we are pleased with our enrollment numbers, we are continually searching for ways to improve the quality of education here at Life School. In a quest for excellence, there is always room to grow. Each member of our staff, from the executive administration to the teachers on the front line, has a heart for each of the students and the families that we serve. We truly desire to be the very best that we can be and provide an excellent education to prepare our students to be leaders in the 21st century. Each year we do our best to build on the solid foundation that has been laid. We are not satisfied with where we are – but even since this past school year, we are already better, stronger and ready to seize every educational opportunity for our students. Thank you for taking the journey with us.
