The Life Oak Cliff Elmentary Library sponsored an African American History activity featuring Life school employees. Since we have such a wealth of gifted and talented staff members here at Life, the Librarian decided to center her activities around them for the month of February.
Mrs. Martindale presented “A Dramatic Interpretation of African American Poetry” featuring Mrs. Yutease Warren, Life School OC First Grade Instructional Aide.
Mrs. Warren, “The Artist among Us”, won her first competition for dramatic interpretation when she was in elementary school. She learned to put her fears behind her and moved on to participate in many other competitions, plays, oratorical contest and dramatic presentations. Such as, the one featured at the Life School Library.
She presented an amazing interpretation of “Ego Tripping” by Nikki Giovanni. Her audience was the Life School fourth graders, first graders, teachers and staff. The students participated by presenting recitations they had learned and listened to poems and stories put to music from “Hip Hop for Children” edited by Nikki Giovanni.
