Life School Lancaster Celebrates African American History

lsl-african-american-celebration-22908-040.jpgLife School Lancaster students celebrated African American history on Friday, February 29th. There were many highlights to this outstanding celebration that was held in honor of African Americans who have shaped our nation. Classes participated in song and poetry in honor of African American heritage.

During the assembly, individual students posed as living statues of heroes such as Martin Luther King Jr., Condoleezza Rice, Oprah Winfrey and Harriett Tubman.  The Untouchables team from South Grand Prairie High School performed a step routine that incorporated historical African American figures. A variety of informative artwork lined the walls and covered tables in the auditorium.  Many thanks to Ms. Shelley Massey, Life School Lancaster music teacher, for coordinating this exceptional event, and to the parents who contributed delicious snacks for all to enjoy.
